The Kitten Smells Like Cookies

Sometimes. I mentioned recently that I am taking a YA Literature course. I am also taking a French course and a Philosophy of Science course. French is a little bit aggravating because I have to film video chats with my class mates, occasionally, and part of what I look for in online courses is the ability to avoid human interaction. So far the Philosophy of Science class has been the most accommodating in that regard, and it's the one class I am actually taking on campus. But my YA Lit class is so far the best, because I am having to read YA again. And when I say the best, I mean it's incredibly easy (so far) and incredibly obnoxious- because YA literature is inherently obnoxious...because teenagers are inherently obnoxious. I am mortified by the things I did when I was young. I will probably be forever mortified by the ridiculousness of my past self, as it is often the human condition, but I think the inane ramblings of my teen years are the worst. In some aspects I was...

Nerves

Tonight I was spurned to a terrible thing- community building. I am well outside of my comfort zone. This has been a rough month in keeping up with this blog, I'm sorry. I need to even out my schedule. I should be writing every day. I have honestly been writing quite often but a lot of it has been papers that are not exceedingly interesting (though I have been getting decent marks on them.) Outside of this I am planning to begin my reviews of fall premieres but there are a few more that I need to catch up on over the weekend. My last small project is this odd "drawing a day" thing I found on Facebook that I want to keep up with. Oh, and I have begun studying French and Spanish again. Soon my brain will implode. Speaking of, I made the mistake of speaking to my mother the other day and was met with some questions that are becoming somewhat common. People have taken to asking me how I am going to deal with being alone. Another fun conversation has been: why? Why are y...

I Have Been Spending Way Too Much

The title has nothing to do with the post. Right now I am watching Amy Schumer and mourning. The list of shows that got cut from Fall 2015 is coming out and I lose friends every year to the culling. (Television is my only true friend.) With the end of Parks and Recreation and the cancellation of the Mindy Project I feel like female driven comedy took a big hit on network TV this season. This is especially surprising because the season started with so many romcoms- maybe too many romcoms. It is entirely possible that romcoms are a very cheap way of appealing to female viewership (I'm looking at you, Manhattan Love Story .) However, beyond the four romcoms that premiered this season there were several comedies that starred a female lead and two of those female leads were women of color!! That brought female driven comedies starring a woman of color up to three shows. THREE SHOWS TOTAL. And now there is one. Don't get me wrong, Jane the Virgin is fantastic and probably th...
